5 Things That Make Me Happy
Happy Friday everyone!
I thought I might start a new series here on the blog, 5 Things.
Each week, I'll list five different things with a topic. It could be things I like, new recipes I want to try, etc. For the first week, I wanted to start with a list of things in my life, therefore, I chose 5 Things That Make Me Happy.
I have been reading for as long as I can remember. Reading to me means going on adventure after adventure. Living thousands of lives and being sucked in to a book's world. It is what initially led me to go into publishing. I literally wanted to be paid to read. While my career did not lead me to working in publishing as I hoped, it doesn't diminish my love for the written word and finding new authors or series to become obsessed with.
There are few times in life where I am and I know 100% of the time what I 'm doing or feel confident in what I'm doing. Soccer is one of those occasions. Having played since I was around three, and after spending nearly a decade playing competitively, it is a time where my soul feels happy and feels like it belongs. Even if I'm playing on a team and they are totally getting destroyed by the competition, I feel good and fulfilled. It says a lot considering between the ages of 15 and 16, I played for a coach who nearly destroyed my love for the sport. My family and I persisted however, and we found a team I meshed with far better and ended up playing with for almost five years.
Considering my background of Greek and German, I have a relatively small family of initial/blood relatives. However, I do have many cousins via marriage or once or twice removed. Regardless, I love my family of wonderful, supportive individuals who always boast of mine and my brother's accomplishments, and who always are there for us. I am very fortunate that I have such loving parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. People I know who will always have my back and love me always.
Patrick aka "P"
Occasionally on this blog, I will mention "P," which in a quick nickname for my boyfriend Patrick. Patrick is the only person I've dated, and we met when I was 23. One of the things I love so much about our relationship is that he has truly become my best friend. For most of my life, I struggled with hoping good friends and was never successful keeping good friends and was never successful in the "guys" department. I though I would never find someone. One fateful winter day, I signed up for a free eHarmony trial and on New Year's Eve 2013/2014, P and I began talking, and we haven't stopped since. Thanks for being as supportive and wonderful P, I don't know if you'll ever understand how wonderful and special you are to me and everyone who loves you.
Part of the reason I creative this blog and my YouTube channel is because I love to create. I have loved doing arts and crafts as long as I can remember, and it has always given me a sense of empowerment and joy. I love perusing Pinterest (I mean who doesn't) to find new ideas and crafts I could have never come up with. For Christmas, P got me a Cricut Machine to help feed my obsession, and I haven't looked back. Its a sometimes time-consuming way to get creative and get my juices flowing.
What makes you happy? I would love to know what brings other people joy, especially if they need a boost in joy.
