Self Care Saturday: Easy, Yummy & Healthy No-Bake Snacks

One of my resolutions for the year was to get back into eating healthier snacks. I love to snack throughout the day, so I want to make sure I am making and eating things that are much better for me than other treats I've had. I also wanted to make sure I had a variety of baked ones and non-baked ones. Today, I'm sharing four of my favourite no-bake snacks that hit both your healthy cravings and sweet cravings (for real).
There are many traditionally healthy snacks that usually end up being pieces of fruit on their own. Now, don't get me wrong, those are great, but just like any food, it can get boring after a while. These are some of my favourite go-tos when I have a craving but am trying to eat better.
Apples & Cinnamon
This classic was one I discovered when I worked at a yoga studio. It quickly became an instant favourite of mine due to the simplicity and taste. I use my apple slicer to quickly cut the apple up, and delicately sprinkle enough cinnamon to cover the apples without overpowering them.
Apple & Yogurt (optional granola)
Specifically, vanilla-flavoured yogurt goes best in my opinion. They are both sweet, but their tastes balance so nicely against each other. The tartness of the apple and the creamy texture and taste of the yogurt work well together and make a scrumptious snack that could be eaten anytime of day. It is a great alternative to sweets.
Rice Cakes or Toast with Peanut Butter & Bananas
This has become more of a breakfast item for me. I usually have it with toast, but on the occasion I have plain rice cakes in the house, I use that as my base instead. Because the toast and rice cakes have such a neutral taste, they add a nice, solid, crunchy base that is a complementary texture and taste to the classic combination of peanut butter and banana.
Okay, I evidently really like apples. Any who, this recipe was one I discovered through a Bethany Mota video. Its another good breakfast/morning meal or a snack that is light but will crush your cravings and leave you happy. You will need an apple, peanut butter, granola, and chocolate chips.
Core the apple and slice it horizontally from the core so the apples look like donuts.
Remove any excess seeds from the donuts and find good matching pairs.
Spread peanut butter on all the slices.
Sprinkle granola and chocolate chips on half of the slices.
Place the slices with just peanut butter on top of their match with the granola and chocolate chips to make "sandwiches."
