Mouth-Watering Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Now that I've gotten your attention, banana bread has become somewhat of a staple in my house. We love to eat bananas but we often find that we don't eat them quick enough before they go brown and mushy. The upside is that those bananas then become the perfect item to make this delicious banana bread.

This is the recipe my mom and I have been going to for a few years now. The crumble on top is actually from another cake recipe we use. Both are simple but super effective. Perfect to make any time of the year.

Crumble Topping Ingredients

You will need equal parts:

  • Flour

  • Butter (cold to cool so it doesn't easily melt in your hands)

  • Brown sugar

You will also need

  • A sprinkle of cinnamon for flavour

Crumble Topping Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix them together until you have pea-sized crumbles in your hands. You want to make sure the crumbles are small enough that you can spread them over the banana bread right before you pop it into the oven.

  2. Set aside.

Banana Bread Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cup All-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp Baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream

  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips

  • 2 medium-sized bananas, sliced

Banana Bread Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F and grease a loaf pan. In a large bowl, stir together the butter and sugar.

  2. Once creamy, add the eggs in one at a time and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients.

  3. Once the wet ingredients are combined, slowly add in the dry mixture and yogurt, alternating (dry, yogurt, dry, yogurt, dry).

  4. Add the bananas and chocolate chips.

  5. Spread the mix evenly into the prepared pan. Add the prepared crumble on top of the loaf.

  6. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.
