Brownies are one of my all-time favourite sweet treats. They are chocolate, ooey-gooey, and just satisfy that sweet craving.
This recipe is called "One-Bowl Brownies" because you only need one bowl to mix everything in! It is a great recipe to make with kids or if you are newer to baking. This recipe is a great way to get anyone comfortable with baking.
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
Optional: 1 cup of chocolate chips, or nuts, or raisins
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease or line the 8x8 square pan with parchment paper. In a medium-sized bowl, combine melted butter, cocoa, and sugar together and stir until fully dissolved.
Add eggs one at a time then add vanilla and stir until well combined.
Stir in flour and salt until the flour is well combined and the batter becomes smooth.
Next, if you want, add in your optional ingredient and stir until well combined within the batter. I add chocolate chips or chopped chocolate pieces as an extra layer of chocolatey goodness.
Use a spatula to help scoop the batter into the pan and smooth out the batter so it is evenly laid out in the square pan. Bake in the oven for about 20-22 minutes or until the centre is slightly set.
